Position Description

The Utilities Engineer manages the design, construction, and oversight of water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure for the City of Tolleson. This role leads Capital Improvement Projects (CIP), negotiates development agreements, and ensures compliance with health, environmental, and regulatory standards. Acting as a project manager, the Engineer ensures projects meet scope, schedule, and budget expectations. Responsibilities include overseeing utility system inspections, streamlining development processes and design standards, and enhancing customer service. The Engineer also serves as a liaison to internal teams and external stakeholders, representing the City in meetings, events, and collaborative efforts. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of progressively responsible experience related to area of assignment or an equivalent combination of directly related education and experience. Must have at time of hire and be able to maintain registration as an Arizona Geologist or Professional Engineer (Civil) or an equivalency through state reciprocity. Valid Arizona driver's license required.

Physical Demands

Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Sedentary: Exerting up to 10 lbs. occasionally or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time.

Working Conditions are in an office setting. Depending on assignment some travel may be required.

Job Information

Closing Date: Open until filled Hiring Salary: $124,697.85-$155,872.31 Annually D.O.E.
