Job Description

Review project plans, specifications, and documentation to develop accurate cost estimates. Perform quantity take-offs and prepare detailed scopes of work. Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes. Assist in bid strategy, risk assessment, and proposal development. Maintain historical cost data and support continuous improvement in estimating practices. Support project managers with scheduling, procurement, and subcontractor coordination. Assist in preparing submittals, RFIs, change orders, and monitor project costs, budgets, and timelines to ensure alignment with project goals. Help manage field communication and documentation between stakeholders. Participate in job site visits and progress meetings as needed.

Responsibilities

• Develop accurate cost estimates by reviewing project plans, specifications, and documentation.
• Perform quantity take-offs and prepare detailed scopes of work.
• Solicit and evaluate quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Assist in developing bid strategy, conducting risk assessments, and drafting proposals.
• Maintain and utilize historical cost data to improve estimating practices.
• Support project managers with scheduling, procurement, and subcontractor coordination.
• Prepare submittals, RFIs, change orders, and monitor project costs to ensure budget alignment.
• Facilitate field communication and documentation among stakeholders.
• Participate in job site visits and progress meetings as necessary.

Essential Skills

• 5-10 years of estimating experience.
• Experience with earthwork, concrete, or foundations.
• Proficiency in construction management and estimating software.
• Strong skills in pricing, bidding, blueprint reading, and cost estimation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Utility experience is a plus.

Work Environment

The candidate will primarily work in the New Hyde Park office but will travel to sites as required for bid-walks. Working hours are from 8am to 5pm. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
