Lead Estimator

The Project Estimator Lead is a key member of the Engineering and Estimating team and is responsible for supervising and delegating tasks to project estimators. This individual serves as the primary contact for all estimating needs. In addition, they are responsible for approving estimators quotes to ensure alignment with company pricing structure and providing exceptional customer service and timely responses to customer inquiries. The estimating team lead is also responsible for the system creation of new parts when they are turned from an estimate to a customer order.

Duties:

• Respond to emails and entering Requests for Quotation (RFQs) into the request tracking system.
  • Deliver exceptional service to customers by providing prompt and accurate responses to inquiries.
  • Review and approve estimators' quotes and pricing,
• Ensure the estimating department remains focused on their tasks and quotes are delivered within 48 hours.
• Conduct job recaps to validate the accuracy of estimates.
  • Audit and improve estimating templates and calculators.
• Enter new parts into the E2 Shop System and create shop documents.
• Assist with estimating workload as needed.
  • Analyze customer drawings, blueprints, and other provided information to determine the materials needed and the production methods required to produce a quality part.
  • Obtain quotes from outside sources as necessary.
  • Estimate materials, labor, and outside costs and calculate pricing utilizing company quoting templates, estimating calculators, and production efficiency reports.
  • Process and generate formal quotes through the E2 Shop System.
• Contribute to enhancing Wald Wire's performance and capabilities by assisting other departments as engineering and estimating issues arise.
  • Assist management in providing cost reductions to key customers by analyzing current projects and quoted prices and identifying areas where cost savings can be realized.
  • Assist the quality team with inspections and/or blueprint interpretation when needed.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities in the Engineering and Estimating department and recommend modifications to enhance quality
  • Recommend modifications to existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within the limits of equipment capability.
• Handle customer environmental compliance requests.
• Regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule

Qualifications

• Previous experience in quoting in the manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Must be able to demonstrate a high level of skill in computer use, basic math, blueprint reading and customer service.
• Knowledge of E2 Shop Management System is a plus.
• Familiarity with calipers, micrometers, measuring tapes and other measuring devices is a plus.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
