Temporary Painter

Position Summary:

The Painter I receives parts from the supplier, prepares materials, applies paint coatings, and inspects final products to ensure a quality finish through accurate surface and paint preparation. This is currently a temporary position, it could possibly turn to a fulltime position in the future.

Major Responsibilities:

• Hangs and handles product safely using a variety of hooks and carts for the painting process.
• Cleans and prepares part surfaces according to specifications.
• Inspects parts prior to paint for needed repair, sand, or body work.
• Masks parts and plugs holes to print notes stating tight tolerances for overspray prevention.
• Mixes paint, catalyst, reducers, and additives according to specifications.
• Adjusts paint and process parameters to account for atmospheric conditions (such as temperature and humidity) or coating irregularity to achieve the specified or expected quality finish.
• Preforms paint touchups on completed assemblies.
• Inspects parts for defects, repair, or repaint, if required.
• Performs preventive maintenance on equipment and tools including painting and mixing equipment, along with booths and filtration.
• Effectively manages time to ensure on-time delivery of every project and completes labor report properly and accurately.
• Adheres to safety standards and procedures, including use of designated Personal Protective Equipment, as required.
• Performs all other duties and responsibilities, as required.

Required Education / Experience / Skills:

• As stated in OSHA standard 29 CFR 1910.134 (g) (1) (i) (A), employers shall not permit respirators with tight-fitting face-pieces to be worn by employees who have facial hair that comes between the sealing surface of the face-piece and the face or that interferes with valve function. This includes stubble or light beard growth. You must be clean-shaven at all times.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED). or one to three months related experience and/or training. or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Basic personal computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
• Moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily production/technical nature.
