We are seeking a skilled and dependable Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating various heavy machinery, including front-end loaders, excavators, grinders, and screeners. This role involves transporting materials, loading trucks, and operating equipment to ensure smooth and efficient operations at the work site. Additionally, the Heavy Equipment Operator will conduct pre-shift inspections and perform routine maintenance to keep machinery in optimal working condition.
Responsibilities:
Start equipment engines, shift gears, operate controls, and perform necessary adjustments to machinery for efficient operation.
Operate front-end loaders to move bulk materials, positioning lifting devices for secure transport and dumping in designated areas.
Attach and detach various pieces of equipment to the loader, aligning and securing attachments as needed.
Operate skid steer and associated attachments when required.
Perform material blending and mixing operations using heavy equipment, as applicable based on skill level.
Operate excavators as needed, based on skill level and operational requirements.
Conduct pre-shift inspections and preventative maintenance, including fueling, lubricating, and cleaning equipment to ensure proper functioning.
Adhere to safety protocols and participate in safety training sessions to maintain a safe working environment.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Reports To: Director of Operations.
Qualifications:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Capable of writing simple correspondence.
Ability to communicate in one-on-one or small group settings with co-workers and supervisors.
Math Ability: Proficiency in basic math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense and follow detailed written or oral instructions.
Ability to handle problems with a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED.
A minimum of two years of relevant experience or training in operating heavy equipment, particularly front-end loaders.
Specialized Training: Loader operator training preferred.
Physical Demands:
Perform repetitive motions with arms, legs, and neck (frequently).
Sit, stand, and reach with hands and arms (frequently).
Climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed (occasionally).
Lift and/or move objects weighing 10 to 50 pounds (occasionally).
Exhibit specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
Work Environment:
Wet or humid conditions (non-weather-related).
Proximity to moving mechanical parts.
Outdoor weather conditions.
Vibration and dust exposure.
Uneven terrain, including slopes and grades.
Occasionally slick work surfaces.
High noise levels in the work environment.
Personal Protective Equipment: The employee will be required to wear personal protective equipment, including a hard hat, safety shoes, safety glasses, and a safety vest.
