Salary $59,278 ANNUALLY / $28.50 PER HOUR

This position reports directly to the Director of Code Enforcement and will be responsible for conducting electrical inspections of structures, equipment and materials at various stages of construction or remodeling on residential and commercial locations in the city of Bartlett. Will enter inspection results daily using an iPad or desktop computer. Leave inspection tags at the job site where electrical inspections are conducted daily. Contact electrical contractors with code information and answer questions regarding permits and code requirements. Conducts electrical plan reviews on commercial plans, enforce ordinances and compliance of the current edition of the National Electrical Code (NEC) with current City of Bartlett amendments. Maintain reports regarding inspection activities and findings on all active projects. Participate in pre-construction meetings with architects, engineers, and contractors to explain code and local regulations for new project construction as needed. Oversee maintenance of assigned vehicle. Assist other inspectors and related staff as appropriate, and work with other departments and city employees as needed. Performs any other duties as may be assigned by the Director. Must have good interpersonal skills, and good written and oral communication skills.

Requires a high school diploma or GED and a valid TN driver's license, which must remain valid as a condition of continued employment. Must have 5 years' experience in the electrical field, or as a building inspector, plans examiner, construction superintendent or foreman. Masters license preferred. Must be able to obtain certification through the International Code Council (ICC) as an Electrical Inspector within one year of employment as a condition of continued employment. Must pass a background screen, driver's license verification and physical exam, including a drug test.
