This position will be located at the Forest Park General Services Headquarters in Atlanta, GA
This position will require a mixture of both field and office work.
Field work can include site visits to various work locations and may require overnight travel.
Relocation assistance may be provided if the successful candidate does not currently live within a reasonable commuting distance.
JOB SUMMARY
The Power Delivery Project Support - East organization is a multi-discipline transmission engineering organization that provides scoping, conceptual design and cost estimating services for the Transmission Capital projects in the state of Georgia. These engineering disciplines include engineers/estimators for Substation Physical, Substation Control, High Voltage Transmission lines, Civil Engineering and Distribution. The project manager role will lead multi-discipline engineering project teams to develop project solutions and drive a collaborative approach to conceptual design for high-profile, time-sensitive large load customer, and bulk transmission capital projects.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education :
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology is required.
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering or Engineering technology is preferred.
A Professional Engineering License is a plus.
A Project Management Professional Certification, or other Project Management Certification, is preferred.
Experience:
Prior Project Management experience coordinating the work of multiple departments and/or engineering disciplines is required.
Prior Transmission Project Management experience is preferred.
Prior Transmission Engineering Design experience is required, and multi-disciplined design experience is preferred.
Prior experience leading design teams and providing quality assurance for design and cost estimation and assessing and remediating critical path project schedules is a plus.
The ability to be an effective mentor to others and teach job-related skills.
A good understanding of utility electric grid operations is preferred.
Proficiency using Microsoft Office products is required.
Knowledge of basic electrical power system theory is preferred.

Must be a self-starter and exhibit strong problem-solving skills.
Must work well in a team environment and have the ability to develop and build relationships at all levels.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
The project manager role will lead multi-discipline engineering project teams to develop project solutions and drive a collaborative approach to conceptual design for high-profile, time-sensitive large load customer, and bulk transmission capital projects.
Specific responsibilities include:
Provide work direction and technical leadership to multi-discipline engineering teams to develop project solutions, scope of work, conceptual design and cost estimates for high-profile, time-sensitive large load customer, and bulk transmission capital projects.
Drive decision-making and ensure clear and frequent communication amongst the various project team members
Facilitate design decisions quality project scope reviews across the multiple engineering disciplines.
Provide quality project estimate reviews across the multiple engineering disciplines.
Serve as the primary PDPS point of contact for the GPC PMO Project Manager, Customer Choice, and/or Economic Development
Provide support for Project Management, Customer Choice, and Exception projects.
Perform site visits for projects including scoping, conceptual design and estimating activities. Some overnight travel will be required.
Handling multiple tasks simultaneously, setting priorities, and using effective time management and organizational skills to achieve project team goals.
Provide assistance as part of a storm restoration team after major storm events in the Southern Company service territory.
