Under the supervision of the Fire & Life Safety Systems Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for Campus Fire Alarm Systems installations, programming, operation, maintenance, inspection, testing, Fireworks monitoring networks, other system connection and inventory. The incumbent inspects in-progress construction work and performs final inspections to ensure all work performed complies with applicable codes.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $62.95 - $62.95 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications:- Two years of formal fire alarm systems technician experience with Edward EST-3 Fire Alarm systems, installation & programming and Fireworks stations.
- Ability to read, write and perform basic arithmetic calculations; two (2) years of experience at the operational level in an appropriate craft; and knowledge and abilities
- Demonstrated theoretical and working knowledge of electricity, electronics, and electronic and computerized fire alarm system design and operation.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot fire alarm system failures.
- Demonstrated knowledge or ability to obtain manufacturers certification on the following systems: Edwards Systems Technology panels and networked fire alarm systems.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and fire system schematics.
- Demonstrated computer skills with MS Word, Excel, Access, NT 4.0 and XP operating systems.
- Working knowledge of applicable building and safety codes.
- Ability to communicate clearly in writing and orally with contractors and design consultants.
- Demonstrated ability to give clear written and oral instructions.
- Fingerprinting, background check, and physical examination required.
- Two (2) years of formal fire alarm systems technician apprenticeship with Edward Fire Alarm system, EST-3 Installation & programming or equivalent education, and experience with fire alarm systems.
