Job Summary: The Corporate Project Engineer will serve as a key technical leader across Lane Enterprises' plastic manufacturing operations, responsible for the planning, execution, and optimization of capital projects related to plastic extrusion, vacuum forming, plant layout, and systems integration. This role ensures the successful design, installation, and commissioning of complex systems and equipment while coordinating closely with plant management, vendors, contractors, and cross-functional engineering teams. The ideal candidate brings robust technical and project management expertise in plastics manufacturing, along with hands-on experience in extrusion systems, machine design, piping schematics, and automation. Supervisory Responsibilities: Able to lead small groups at all levels to accomplish projects on time Essential Responsibilities: Project Management & Engineering Design Lead end-to-end project management of corporate-level plastics projects, including machine design and installation, facility layout, infrastructure upgrades, and equipment commissioning. Develop detailed layouts for corrugated extrusion lines, supporting necessary piping schematics and systems using AutoCAD or equivalent software. Create architectural, mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic designs and oversee their implementation from concept through installation. Manage capital project budgets, timelines, quotes, and contract deliverables. Vendor & Contractor Oversight Establish and maintain relationships with service providers and equipment vendors. Negotiate service contracts and manage vendor performance across multi-site projects. Oversee external contractors during project execution to ensure quality, safety, and compliance with specifications. Manufacturing & Process Optimization Identify and implement technical solutions to optimize manufacturing processes, equipment utilization, and facility design. Support plant-level continuous improvement initiatives related to productivity, safety, and cost reduction. Provide advanced technical oversight for troubleshooting, deconstruction, and reinstallation of extrusion systems. Collaborate with plant managers, operators, engineers, and corporate stakeholders to align project goals with operational needs. Cross-Functional Leadership & Collaboration Serve as a central liaison between corporate leadership and plant engineering/operations teams. Provide technical guidance and leadership to indirect reports, including plant managers, engineers and project stakeholders. Coordinate with operations managers, plant supervisors, and third-party vendors to ensure timely project delivery and plant readiness. Requirements: Required Skills & Abilities: Strong technical expertise in plastic extrusion, vacuum forming, and facility layout design. Proven experience designing, reading, and implementing machine and building plans. Proficiency in AutoCAD; capable of generating piping schematics and mechanical drawings. Excellent project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation. Strong understanding of architectural, mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic engineering principles. Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and collaborate across multiple sites. Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies. Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related field. 3-5 years of project engineering experience within plastics manufacturing. Experience with AutoCAD is required. Experience managing large-scale projects involving extrusion line installation and optimization, building layout design, and equipment commissioning. Physical Requirements: Up to 50% travel required to support multi-site project execution, vendor meetings, and site installations. Ability to read and interpret complex building and equipment schematics. Physical ability to work in manufacturing environments, including standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
