Freelance CAD Designer Marine Structures (Seawalls, Docks, Boat Lifts)

About the Job:
Im looking for an experienced CAD Designer to prepare professional, accurate, and permit-ready engineering drawings for marine structures, primarily residential-scale seawalls, docks, and boat lifts. Youll be designing layouts, interpreting local zoning and environmental codes, and ensuring site plans meet client needs and permitting requirements.
This role requires someone who can independently determine the best solutions for layout constraints, such as setbacks, length limits, clearances, and environmental considerations, and produce initial design concepts ready for review.
Responsibilities:
Prepare clear, accurate site plans and detailed construction drawings using AutoCAD
Design functional layouts considering local codes, setbacks, environmental requirements, and client objectives
Incorporate redline revisions and permitting comments accurately and quickly
Conduct thorough QA/QC checks before submitting drawings
Communicate clearly and manage project files professionally
The ability to reliably complete drawing sets within a 5 day period.
Qualifications:
Experienced CAD designer, proficient in AutoCAD LT (2D)
Background in civil or structural drafting, with marine experience preferred
Comfortable interpreting local South Florida permitting rules (DERM, FDEP, ACOE, city-specific requirements)
Able to independently solve design constraints and produce compliant layouts
QA/QC oriented with clear attention to detail
Reliable and responsive turnaround times
Requirements:
Provide your own computer, licensed AutoCAD (or AutoCAD LT), reliable internet, and PDF capability
Able to handle file management independently
