Trailer Repair Tech/Welder
DIVISION: Indiana Body Works
LOCATION: Evansville, IN
REPORTS TO: Operations Manager
What You Will Do:
Weld, fabricate, and repair a wide variety of metal structures and trailers from oral directions, sketches, or drawings. Must be able to inspect own finished welds to meet company standards.
How You Will Do It:
Perform trailer inspections
Ability to replace and repair the following: Panels, Rails, Flooring, Brakes
Ability to weld and fabricate metal
Ability to perform trailer repair work
Operate a forklift, welding equipment, etc.
Perform other duties as assigned by management
Use special equipment to restore damaged metal frames and body sections back to original specifications
Able to develop appropriate and efficient methods for each job
Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and complete standard records
Fabricate and repair a wide variety of metal structures and equipment
Perform basic inspection of project and determine what repairs are needed
Participate in all requested job-related training and development, as well as taking an active interest in improving skills with other training programs
Completes all reports and forms for service operations in a timely and accurate manner
Ensure manager is aware of any issues which can impact customer satisfaction or billing
Maintain good condition and cleanliness of company vehicles, tools, and equipment including the return of tools to storage areas
Ensure all company values are adhered to and promoted through leading by example and creating an environment of trust and teamwork
Follow all company and common sense safety policies, while using all required personal protective equipment
Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed
Desired Qualifications:
Certified welders are preferred but not required
Welding experience (Arc, Tig, Mig) required
Metal repair experience
Ability to operate vehicles and equipment used in service shops (fork-lifts, hydraulic lifts, etc)
Ability to lift 50 pounds as required without assistance
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain professionalism in the workplace
Strong organizational skills
Attendance is a priority
