Performs a verity of electrical maintenance tasks including all the following pipe bending, panel construction, troubleshooting, basic mechanical operation. Ability to perform installation of both electrical and mechanical parts, ability to troubleshoot electrical problems, diagnose and maintain repairs of plant equipment. Primary duties are to perform electrical maintenance on all equipment as needed. Must be willing to work on other task as needed outside primary duties.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs any combination of (but not limited to) the following duties according to
specific department guidelines:
Determine the existence of electrical hazards and problems. Safely isolate, ground, and prepare circuits and electrical apparatus to enable repairs.
Have knowledge of and use the required personal protective equipment to protect against arc flash and shock.
Troubleshoot and maintain motor control centers, motor start circuits, control loops, generators, high voltage switchgear, protective relaying, and related equipment.
Read/interpret engineering drawings and manuals to install, calibrate and maintain electrical apparatus. Work from complex engineering and manufacturers drawings or manuals to complete projects and assigned work
Install electrical conduit, pull and terminate wiring.
Ability to use electrical/electronic testing equipment to such as multi-meters, ammeters, megohm meters, high potential testers, oscilloscopes, digital probes to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
Use hand and power tools related to the electrical trades.
Install and maintain control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays, circuit breakers, and control panels.
Install and maintain drive systems such as variable frequency drives, eddy current, and DC drives. Install and maintain programmable logic control systems (PLC).
Interpret and/or modify PLC control logic as necessary. Install and calibrate pressure, temperature, flow, and level controls.
Observe installed systems to detect hazards and determine the need for adjustments or modifications.
Design layout work on panels, set up complex control systems, interpret and alter engineering drawings and wiring diagrams.
Repair or replace faulty electrical equipment, including electronic controls, meters, outlets, and panels.
Effectively communicate problems and solutions to resolve electrical problems.
Use computerized maintenance system to retrieve and enter information.
Assist in establishing and maintaining scheduled maintenance programs for plant equipment. Maintain records, update drawings, and develop safety procedures.
Observe safe work practices and ensure work does not endanger others.
Perform other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
3-5 years minimum experience as an electrician, in a manufacturing environment is preferable.
Experience NFPA 70E Desired.
NEC knowledge
VFD experience Desired
Able to troubleshoot mechanical issues with bearings, chains, sprockets, gearboxes, and conveyors. Desired
Must be able to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
Relevant degrees and/or certifications are preferred.
