Job Description:
Job Summary:
Performs journeyman level painting work including but not limited to: drywall taping and finishing, floor covering, and specialty coatings, and furniture refinishing.

Essential Functions:
- Applies coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate and protect interior and exterior surfaces.
- Smoothes surfaces and prepares surface for painting.
- Paints using brushes, rollers, or spray gun.
- Erects scaffolding or sets up ladders to perform tasks above ground.
- Masks and covers areas not scheduled for painting and cleans up work site after completion.
- Protects floor surfaces and furniture with drop cloths.
- Removes and hangs wall paper.
- Removes and installs VCT type flooring and ceiling tiles.
- Tapes and floats surfaces and applies different types texture.
- Prepares, patches, and finishes all types of surfaces.
- Responsible for quality and neatness of all assigned University painting jobs.
- Duty hours are as assigned by supervisor.
- Responds to emergency situations.
- Ensures that safety and housekeeping rules are followed.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Employee may be required to be on stand-by call and work overtime.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to work in all type conditions, (i.e. inside, outside, dusty, noisy, and hazardous.)
- Must have working knowledge of texture guns, paint mixers, trowel, spray guns, brushes, rollers, misc. hand tools, drills, sanders, and other related equipment.
- Ability to lift, carry, push or pull a variety of tools, equipment and materials.
- Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel and crouch.
- Must lift approximately 75 pounds and with assistance lift in excess of 100 pounds.
- Must be willing to work in high places on ladders, scaffolding, roof tops and tight, limited space areas.
Education and Experience:
Three (3) years' experience in the painting trade.
Must have valid Texas driver's license and good driving record.
