Assists in performing field inspections using approved architectural drawings of buildings & structures under the jurisdiction of the Bureau of Construction Compliance to ensure compliance with state building codes & statutes.
Assists, as needed, inspections of existing buildings & structures for safety to determine if Certificates of Occupancy may be issued.
Complete assigned inspections daily in a multi county territory.
Inspect general building construction and mechanical systems.
Work local and State authorities.
THIS POSITION WILL SERVICE ROSS, SCIOTO, ADAMS, HIGHLAND, PICKAWAY, PIKE AND CLINTON COUONTIES. YOU MUST LIVE IN ONE OF THE SERVICE COUNTIES OR A COUNTY ADJACENT TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS POSITION.

Completion of labor union sponsored training program in plumbing, carpentry, electrical, welding & related building trades; 2 years additional experience in building trades which must have included carpentry, electrical, plumbing & welding work & reading blueprints; valid driver's license.
OR- 4 years training or 4 years' experience in plumbing, carpentry, electrical, welding & other general building trades which included reading blueprints; valid driver license.
OR- Equivalent of minimum qualifications for employment noted above.
Please note: an agility assessment will be conducted to ensure capability to endure hazardous elements of this position.
Employee's classified as a Building Inspector Trainee shall be reclassified to Building Inspector within 365 days. Failure to obtain Certification as a Building Inspector within probation shall result in removal.
