This recruitment is being conducted under the Operation Hire Hawaii (OH-HI) project, a targeted outreach initiative featuring an expedited hiring process, fast-tracking qualified applicants into job opportunities throughout Hawai'i.

Salary: $5,359 to $5,944 per month (SR-16, Step C to I). Salary includes Shortage Category Differential.

Duties Summary

This position independently inspects the construction of buildings and structures of simple design to determine whether construction methods, practices, materials and workmanship conform to the provision of contracts, agreements, plans and specifications; and perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:

Legal Authorization to Work Requirement:

The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.

Basic Experience/Education: Work experience which demonstrated the ability to read, comprehend and understand oral and written instructions, write simply and directly, and perform arithmetic computations. Graduation from high school, or equivalent, may be substituted for the work experience.

General Experience: TWO (2) YEARS of journey-level experience in the building construction trades, which demonstrated knowledge of the FULL RANGE of specialized knowledge, skills, abilities and practices used in such trades, including knowledge of building construction methods and materials and safety requirements and practices, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints and sketches.
