Senior Electrical Principal Engineer - MEP Design

About the Role

We're seeking a seasoned Electrical Principal Engineer with 15+ years of experience and a valid PE license to lead our dynamic electrical team. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in MEP design, industry codes (NEC, ASHRAE 90.1, etc.), and a proven track record of leading complex projects across multiple sectors-including Education (K-12), Healthcare, Hospitality, Office/Mixed-Use, and Multi-family Residential.

As a leadership figure within our firm, you'll collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to shape project outcomes from concept through Construction Administration.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of 8 electrical engineers and 3 CAD operators
  • Collaborate with one additional Electrical Principal and firm leadership
  • Oversee and refine lighting and power designs for commercial environments
  • Establish goals, timelines, and scope with project engineers
  • Coordinate and communicate with owners, architects, and contractors
  • Manage scheduling, budgeting, and proposal development
  • Review technical submittals and produce project-specific specifications
  • Monitor progress through the Construction Administration phase
  • Interpret electrical drawings and assess team capacity vs. project scope
  • Provide insights and direction across Visual, AutoCAD, Revit, and SCC Analysis platforms (proficiency not required)

Required Qualifications

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
  • 15+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Deep familiarity with MEP design codes, including NEC and ASHRAE standards
  • Multi-sector project experience: Education, Healthcare, Hospitality, Mixed-Use, Residential
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills
  • Proficiency in project planning and team coordination
  • Ability to clearly convey scope and track project milestones
