Construction Safety Manager
Client: Grassroots Project Location: Prairieville, La Duration:2 years Benefits: Health, Vision, Dental, 401K, Paid Time Off Schedule: 9/80, also open to 5/8s
Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring that the site is provided with competent health, safety, and security expertise, while maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal agencies. The position responsible for ensuring timely follow-up of corrective actions identified through internal and external audits, incident investigations, industry best practice initiatives, etc., as well as assisting with safety and security duties, as needed.
Job Responsibilities:
Conduct periodic safety audits and generate reports for established EHS programs for OSHA 1910 and other federal and state regulatory requirements and company policies.
Evaluate audit findings to provide feedback for improvements in program development and training of facility employees.
Serve as subject matter expert on the occupational safety field of EHS (regulations, standards, and policies) and continuously improve knowledge through professional development. Identifies key improvement opportunities to continuously reduce risk. Research and recommend adequate resources to ensure compliance of facility safety programs (i.e., PPE, tools, equipment, etc.).
Participate in incident investigations in requested role (leader, facilitator, member).
Facilitate effective meetings with multiple departmental customers and interests to a successful resolution.
Maintain understanding of Occupational Health and PSM programs and procedures to provide backup support for other Safety Supervisor roles and responsibilities.
Monitor OSHA recordkeeping regulations and incident reporting procedures to provide support.
Independently executes against work priorities/plan. Develops, coordinates and implements EHS programs (new and existing) within their areas of responsibility. Reviews programs for effectiveness and adjusts accordingly.
Provide education on key programs and deficiencies identified peers and cross-functional stakeholders to effectively implement policies, programs, procedures.
Develop and regularly report on leading and lagging indicator safety and process safety metrics.
Engage in incident case management and occupational health strategies for internal and contract safety incidents.
Develop and optimize site specific and project specific safety policies and procedures.
Develop Industrial Hygeien program and ensure compliance with IH requirements
Consult with operations and help facilitate implementation of life critical safety standards including but not limited to Lock Tag Try, Confined Space Entry (along with ventilation plan reviews and signoff), Isolation of Energy, Energized Electrical Work, Elevated Work, and other standard work permitting procedures.
Requirements: Preferred: Bachelor's degree with emphasis in Safety and Health, or related degree with experience in EHS at a petro-chemical complex
Certified Safety Professional (CSP). Experience leading or supervising others
Preferred: 5-10 years' EHS experience
Knowledge of state, local and U.S. Government regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT, DHS, etc.)
