Project Engineer

Job Description

As a Project Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the execution and management of various project-related documents, including proposals, letters, memos, subcontracts, change orders, and others. Your responsibilities will include coordinating and participating in regular meetings, estimating tasks, managing job progress and quality onsite, and providing interpretation of technical plans and specifications. You will also be involved in purchasing processes, project financial management, and job closeout efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Write and manage proposals, letters, memos, subcontracts, change orders, and other project documents.
  • Develop, maintain, and submit critical project documents such as RFIs, Submittals, Procurement Logs, and Shop Drawings.
  • Coordinate and participate in regular meetings, including project kickoff, BIM, and schedule meetings.
  • Perform estimating tasks such as takeoffs, soliciting quotes, compiling bid estimates, and developing change order packages.
  • Manage job progress and quality onsite, leveraging design and construction expertise to solve operational challenges.
  • Interpret technical plans and specifications.
  • Manage purchasing processes including vendor and subcontractor buyout, procurement tracking, and delivery.
  • Handle project financial management, including installation tracking, labor forecasting, invoice review, and billing development.
  • Execute job closeout efforts such as submission of O&Ms, Commissioning, As-Builts, and Warranty processing.
  • Collaborate with the Project Management team to address issues affecting project timeline and budget.
  • Provide technical support for construction efforts, including planning and design, interpretation of design, and value engineering.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with partners outside the company, including customers, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal departments such as Fabrication Shops, Engineering, and Accounting.
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by supervisor and/or upper management.
Essential Skills
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering is highly preferred but not required.
  • 2+ years of experience working with data centers, with knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing scopes.
  • Ability to read and understand plumbing or process piping.
  • Experience with Project Management, process piping, and plumbing design.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with Data Center facility construction.
  • Experience with process piping.
  • BS in Engineering, Project Management, or related field preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Experience with Business Systems Software (JDE, IFS, FastEst, Bluebeam, Box, Smartsheet, etc.).
  • Career progression opportunities from Project Engineer I to more experienced roles based on performance and leadership potential.
Work Environment

This is a non-exempt position requiring work from Monday through Friday, with hours ranging from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm, including a one-hour lunch break and two additional breaks. Travel may be necessary based on business needs to and from the primary office, regional branch offices, and job sites, with varying work locations. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $150000.00 - $160000.00/yr.
