ABOUT THE ROLE

The Project Safety Manager will ensure all project personnel comply with health and safety laws, will be responsible for administering safety programs that will create and maintain a safe workplace, and may be responsible for one or more projects. They must have excellent attention to detail to identify hazards and discover new opportunities for improving site conditions and proactively manage safety. The goal is to ensure the workplace meets all CSI, customer, and legal expectations and actively supports occupational health and safety.

Essential Functions

  • Represent and promote the company image in a professional way by providing safety expertise for all project related safety matters.
  • Prepare professional reports, conduct safety briefings, research and act as the company spokesperson for all site safety questions and concerns.
  • Partner with the project team and field leadership to establish a culture of health and safety.
  • Identify gaps and guide safety elements as needed to comply with customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and execute the project safety plan in the workplace according to CSI, customers, and legal guidelines.
  • Conduct safety training and presentations on health and safety matters, equipment operations, special tasks, accident prevention for all employees, subcontractors and all other personnel arriving on site.
  • Lead, train and mentor new safety professionals.
  • Evaluate and monitor compliance with CSI corporate policies, CSI project site specific plans customer requirements and regulatory guidelines (CalOSHA, DOT, NFPA, EPA, etc) by inspecting project operations.
  • Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions.
  • Lead in-depth investigation of all accidents or incidents to discover causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage workplace injuries and assist with managing workers compensation cases.
  • Lead project safety committees.
  • Lead project Behavior Based Safety program.
  • Recommend solutions to issues, identify deficiencies and improvement opportunities or new prevention measures.
  • Report on health and safety awareness, issues and statistics.

This position is classified as exempt meaning more than 50% of the employee’s time is spent performing exempt job duties consistent with this job description. ABOUT YOU

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of construction safety management experience.
  • Proven experience as safety manager
  • OSHA 30 required
  • OSHA 500 preferred
  • BS in safety management or relevant field is preferred. (*)
  • CHST designation (or greater) from Board of Certified Safety Professionals
  • BS degree in business administration or equivalent. (*)

Physical Demands

  • Frequently works outdoors on uneven surfaces.
  • May be required to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • May be required to stoop, bend, and crouch.

Work Environment

  • Works in the office 30% of the time.
  • May work in varying weather conditions: hot, cold, and wet conditions.
  • May occasionally work in areas with large industrial equipment subject to high noise levels and hazardous chemicals.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary $135,000-$155,000/ year
    • Commensurate with experience, paid weekly. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. CSI reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the selected candidate's qualifications.
