The Fabricator 3 will independently perform complex layout, assembly, and fabrication of metal components based on detailed blueprints and project specifications. This advanced-level role is ideal for experienced fabricators with expert TIG welding skills, strong blueprint interpretation, and the ability to operate a range of shop equipment with minimal oversight. The Fabricator 3 will work with materials such as stainless steel, aluminum, brass, and steel, and is expected to maintain high-quality standards, tight tolerances, and a focus on safety and efficiency throughout all phases of fabrication.

Key Responsibilities:

General Responsibilities
Follow instructions and take directions from supervisors and other higher-level fabricators
Stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours per day)
Lift and move materials weighing up to 100 pounds
Maintain clean and organized workstations after use
Read and accurately use a tape measure

Blueprint Reading & Project Planning
Read and interpret more complex blueprints to understand project requirements
Determine layout and stretch out materials based on project specifications

Fabrication & Assembly
Tack together assigned projects accurately and efficiently
Clad and frame components according to design and quality standards
Work with steel, stainless steel, brass, and aluminum materials
Understand and apply degrees of pitches, angles, miter
Intermediate level silver soldering
Mistakes and revisions should be much less and require less oversight
Expert-level TIG welding on a variety of metals (stainless steel, aluminum, brass, etc.)
Mastery of welding in all positions (flat, vertical, overhead, horizontal)
oAdvanced knowledge of heat control and distortion prevention
oPrecision control of torch angle, filler rod, and arc length
oProficiency in welding thin-gauge materials without warping
oAbility to read and interpret complex blueprints and welding symbols
oIn-depth understanding of TIG welding equipment, including setup and maintenance
oAbility to select proper tungsten types, shielding gases, and filler metals for each job

Machine Operation (NOT all required)
Operate the brake press with advanced working knowledge for bump forming tube and pipe
Operate lathe machine turning down material with advanced knowledge
Grinding of thick and thin material
Operate Bridgeport mill using end mills for coping, slotting, etc. with intermediate knowledge
Operate the Plasma Cutter with basic knowledge
Less oversight needed to ensure quality remains up to standards
