Job Description We are seeking a skilled Estimator to develop detailed cost estimates for projects during the bidding phase and manage change orders post-award. This role involves soliciting and evaluating subcontractor quotes for trades such as electrical, piping, ductwork, and insulation, as well as preparing comprehensive project quotations and schedules using Microsoft Project. The Estimator will conduct site visits to assess project scope, evaluate site conditions, and coordinate with clients and vendors, while sourcing pricing for materials, rental equipment, and crane services. Responsibilities
- Develop detailed cost estimates for projects during the bidding phase and change orders post-award.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor quotes for trades including electrical, piping, ductwork, and insulation.
- Prepare comprehensive project quotations and schedules using Microsoft Project.
- Conduct site visits to assess project scope, evaluate site conditions, and coordinate with clients and vendors.
- Source pricing for materials, rental equipment, and crane services.
- Perform take-offs for ductwork and piping systems to support vendor pricing requests.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager during kickoff meetings to review and align on project scope and execution plans.
- Construction experience with a focus on mechanical and project management.
- Understanding of fabrication and welding terminology.
- Experience in estimating or bidding projects, ideally from a subcontractor's perspective.
- Proficiency in managing project budgets and RFQs.
- Fluent in reading mechanical blueprints.
- Demonstrate an understanding of metal terminology.
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience in a related position.
- Understanding or relationship with industry vendors.
- Knowledge of rigging, welding, and piping.
- High School diploma with a preference for a 2-year technical or 4-year BS degree.
- Valid driver's license.
