Project Engineer

Job Description

As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for managing a range of tasks related to project execution, including writing proposals, letters, memos, subcontracts, change orders, and other critical documents. You will significantly contribute to the development, maintenance, and submission of essential project documents under the direction of the Project Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Write and manage proposals, letters, memos, subcontracts, and change orders.
  • Develop, maintain, and submit critical project documents including RFIs, Submittals, Procurement Logs, and Shop Drawings.
  • Coordinate and participate in regular internal and external meetings, such as project kickoff and BIM meetings.
  • Perform estimating tasks, including takeoffs, vendor and subcontractor quote solicitation, bid estimate compilation, and change order package development.
  • Manage job progress and quality onsite, leveraging design and construction expertise to solve operational and installation challenges.
  • Interpret technical plans and specifications.
  • Oversee purchasing processes, including vendor and subcontractor buyout, procurement tracking, and delivery.
  • Handle project financial management, including installation tracking, labor forecasting, invoice review, and billing development.
  • Conduct job closeout efforts such as submission of O&Ms, Commissioning, As-Builts, and Warranty processing.
  • Collaborate with the Project Management team to address issues affecting project timeline and budget.
  • Provide technical support for construction efforts, participate in planning and design, and review alternate solutions.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers, prime contractors, trade partners, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal departments such as Engineering, Accounting, and Purchasing.
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by supervisor or upper management.
Essential Skills
  • Mechanical and project engineering expertise.
  • Experience with RFIs, Submittals, and Change Orders.
  • Knowledge of MEP, piping, and process engineering.
  • Ability to read and understand plumbing or process piping designs.
  • 2+ years' experience working with data centers, focusing on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing scopes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering is highly preferred.
  • Experience with Data Center facility construction.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Experience with Business Systems Software (JDE, IFS, FastEst, Bluebeam, Box, Smartsheet, etc.).

Work Environment

This is a non-exempt position, working Monday through Friday with hours between 6:00 am and 5:00 pm, including a one-hour lunch break and two additional breaks. Eight hours per day are required, with occasional overtime as necessary. Travel may be required based on business needs to regional branch offices and job sites, with work varying in location.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $150000.00 - $160000.00/yr.
