Job Overview
The MIG Welder I is responsible for performing MIG welding processes to assemble and manufacture metal products, structures, and components according to specifications and quality standards. This entry-level position requires basic knowledge and skills in MIG welding techniques, the ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings, and a commitment to safety and precision in all tasks. Jamco Products consists of two manufacturing buildings. Based on the needs of the business, you may be moved between these two buildings, at the discretion of the leadership team.
Duties and Responsibilities
- MIG Welding: Perform MIG welding operations to assemble metal components and structures. Ensure welds are of high quality, meet specifications, and pass visual and functional inspections.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine welding requirements and specifications.
- Material Preparation: Prepare materials for welding by cleaning, cutting, and positioning parts. Ensure proper alignment and fit-up of components before welding.
- Equipment Maintenance: Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment, tools, and machinery. Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure equipment is in good working condition.
- Quality Control: Inspect welded joints and structures to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications. Identify and address any defects or inconsistencies.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures to maintain a safe working environment. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure proper ventilation in the welding area.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including welding logs, inspection reports, and material usage.
- Flexibility: Flex between the North, South and Stainless-Steel departments as required to meet the demands of the business. Adapt to changing work environments and assignments with a positive and cooperative attitude.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Basic proficiency in MIG welding techniques and equipment operation.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Basic knowledge of safety practices and procedures in a welding environment.
Education and Experience
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a welding certification program or vocational training in welding is preferred.
- Experience: Some experience with MIG welding, including training or internships. Prior work experience in a manufacturing or construction environment is a plus.
