SALARY: up to $50,000-$52,000/annually
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for inspecting all new and replacement heating and air conditioning installations for residential, commercial, and manufacturing structures for compliance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Inspects all heating and air conditioning installation in residential, commercial, and manufacturing
construction for compliance with State codes.
- Inspects replacement equipment in residential, commercial, and manufacturing existing structures.
- Inspect existing structures regarding current condition for condemnations.
- Identifies hazardous and dangerous conditions and takes the necessary corrective action.
- Read blueprints to assure compliance of architectural drawings.
- Make decisions concerning problems not covered in the code books, so as to conform to the intent of the codes.
- Resolves moderately complex problems encountered in the day-to-day inspections.
- Explain the codes and reasons for the codes to the public.
- Releases gas connection to utility companies.
- Maintains mileage and inspection logs.
- On call early mornings, evenings, and weekend for special projects, e.g. Rebuilding Together, and for emergencies, e.g. natural disasters.
- Assists other inspectors when needed
NON-ESSENTIAL/MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as apparent or as assigned.
EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent education.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Working knowledge of City or County government a plus.
- Minimum of five years of experience in a related field.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of the Indiana Mechanical Code and of approved materials and methods
of heating, air conditioning, and ventilating installation, maintenance, alterations, and repair necessary for
safety to people and property.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSE, REGISTRATION:
- Must hold a valid Indiana Driver's License.
- ICC Certification within 2 Years of employment

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in office settings with moderate inside temperatures and outside in all
types of weather. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate in
the office and loud in the field. The entire office is smoke free.
