Make a Difference as a Millwright
As a Millwright at Ergon, Inc., you can look forward to an engaging day-to-day experience filled with hands-on tasks and continuous learning! Your journey will include routine inspections and maintenance of rotating equipment across the network such as pumps, colloidal mills, top and side entry mixers, gearboxes, and other mechanical equipment, ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently. You'll repair and rebuild equipment by taking precision measurements with micrometers and calipers to ensure in-tolerance components and collaborate closely with your team and plant operations to utilize your troubleshooting skills to solve problems.
Enjoy the stability of a guaranteed 40-hour workweek with a flexible schedule - work four 10-hour days (4/10s) from late spring to early fall, giving you long weekends! Weekend and after-hours callouts periodically occur, but overall travel typically follows a Monday-through-Friday schedule, allowing you to enjoy your evenings and weekends. Plus, with the potential for over 300 hours of overtime annually, you'll have ample opportunities to refine your expertise.
Due to the nationwide spread of our facilities, this position requires up to 75% travel. Trip duration is capped at 2 weeks for the rare jobs that extend through the weekend.
Job Duties
- Service, repair, troubleshoot, and perform preventive maintenance on rotating and mechanical-related equipment.
- Perform and teach the aligning of pumps, gearboxes, motors, and belt driven systems.
- Maintain records of all service and repairs and have a safe and clean working environment by complying with all procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Work with customers, co-workers, and associates to develop and maintain strong working relationships in a cooperative work environment.
- Recognize tasks outside of normal job duties and assist others when applicable.
- Maintain Safe work practices and good hazard recognition in all aspects of the job.
Required Skills:
- A high school diploma or GED
- Minimum of one year of experience in repairing rotating equipment (listed above)
- Basic knowledge of machining, welding, and electrical practices.
- Demonstrate good communication and organizational skills.
- The person chosen must be capable of lifting or moving objects that weigh 50 pounds or more and perform tasks that involve bending, lifting, and climbing tanks or other structures.
- Capable of working extensive overtime, up to 80 hours, when needed.
- Willing to routinely travel to facilities (typically up to a week) as needed to perform job function.
