Engineering Technician III

What you need to know

• Hourly Pay $21.60
• Monday Thursday, 5:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
• Full Time (40 hours per week), Temporary (6-month assignment)
• Located in East Mesa

What will you be doing

Will perform journey-level engineering work within the Engineering Design division. This position involves complex drafting assignments, both manually and using AutoCAD, and requires applying civil engineering principles and City policies to produce accurate plans and maps for municipal projects such as streets, utilities, and parks. The ideal candidate will operate independently, exercise sound judgment, and contribute to the successful completion of engineering projects.

You will be responsible for

• Prepare detailed engineering drawings and maps using manual drafting techniques and AutoCAD software.
• Research and extract information from various sources, including field notes, records, and engineering documents, to produce precise construction and record plans.
• Layout and draft complex street, utility, and park improvement projects, including section lines, right-of-way lines, and lot boundaries.
• Assist in checking work for accuracy and adherence to engineering standards.
• Collaborate with city staff, vendors, and external agencies such as SRP, ADOT, and MCHD to gather information and respond to inquiries.
• Perform engineering calculations related to slopes, manhole invert depths, and other design components.
• Other duties as required.

What skills & experience will you bring to us

• Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
• At least 6 college credits in drafting technology, engineering graphics, or CAD.
• Minimum of 3 years of full-time civil engineering-related work experience.
• Minimum of 1 year AutoCAD experience.
• Use of digital mapping systems, database applications, and engineering record sources.
• Basic mathematics, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
