Under limited supervision, manages the operations of the Planning Division.

*T his position performs duties deemed to be safety sensitive" and is therefore subjected to random drug testing under the Citys policies*

  • Hires, trains, assigns, schedules, directs, supervises, and evaluates personnel.
  • Prepares and monitors the annual division budget.
  • Prepares reports; writes memoranda and correspondence.
  • Meets with applicants, developers, and prospective groups.
  • Attends pre-development meetings with applicants and staff.
  • Attends and conducts PC, BOA, and TAC meetings; responds to questions and concerns.
  • Visits development sites and projects in the field.
  • Supervises, coordinates, and inspects land use and zoning maps.
  • Reviews all legal notices for public hearing items; inspects public notice signs in the field.
  • Updates and maintains the Comprehensive Plan, zoning ordinances, and subdivision codes.
  • Updates demographic data, census data, maps, and census data.
  • Prepares and gives expert testimony in land use and condemnation trials and proceedings.
  • Reviews and approves telecommunication towers specific use permits.
  • Attends conferences, seminars, and training sessions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requires a Bachelor's Degree in a course of study related to the occupational field, supplemented by three to five years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Driver's License issued by the State of Oklahoma for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Tasks involve the ability to exert minimal physical effort in sedentary work, typically involving some combination of balancing, feeling, handling, hearing, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, talking, visual acuity, walking and which involves some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 1 0 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
