Job Summary
Under supervision performs routine carpentry tasks in the construction, maintenance and repair of wood structures, fixtures and furnishings according to blueprints, drawings and specific instructions.Qualifications
Performs general carpentry tasks such as demolishing and rebuilding walls, installing suspended ceilings, installing drywall and so forth.
-Designs, builds, install and/or repairs shelves, bulletin boards, desk tops, cabinets, partitions and so forth according to blueprints or drawings.
-Installs door, frames windows and wall shelves. Hangs doors, sets frames and fixes door closers and hinges
-Builds a variety of fixtures on request such as picture frames and coat racks.
-Estimates time required and supplies needed for carpentry projects
-Operates hand and power tools such as saws, lathes, handsaws, sanders, drills, drill pressers, hammers and so forth.
-Performs minor repairs of hospital furniture such as repairing broken chairs, desks, etc
Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent required and Trade/Technical/Vocational Diploma Related Field of Study preferred

Licenses and Credentials
Experience
direct carpentry experience in wood constructions, maintenance and repair required 3-5 years required and knowledge of carpentry skills such as cabinet making usually acquired through related experience 2-3 years preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must be able to read, write and perform arithmetic calculations in order to read and interpret drawings and sketches and complete accurate measurements
- Must be able to operate safely and efficiently a variety of hand and power tools
- ability to lift lumber, doors and heavy times (over 70 lbs.) regularly
- Assures equipment is maintained in safe and proper working order
- Adheres to department/hospital policies and procedures in performing duties and assignments
