Mechanical Engineer (Fittings)
Job Description

Join our team as a Mechanical Engineer specializing in fittings, where you will develop water-based fire protection product or system concepts and detailed designs. Your role includes prototype generation and testing to international standards, conducting detailed studies to support design decisions, and maintaining records of the design process in accordance with best practices. You will perform your duties directly or through subordinates, as directed.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze product and equipment specifications to support decisions on initial design direction.
  • Stay informed about company product offerings to aid in design decisions.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of manufacturing operations to assess the manufacturability of design concepts.
  • Conduct feasibility, cost, optimization, stress, fluids, and thermal analyses.
  • Provide technical information on manufacturing and processing techniques, materials, properties, and process advantages and limitations.
  • Stay ahead of technology developments for potential technical improvements in products and services.
  • Collaborate with research personnel and technical functions to resolve problems and develop designs.
  • Ensure compliance with industry and specific agency approval requirements in designs.
  • Prepare and direct the preparation of design layouts, detailed drawings, and specifications.
  • Coordinate prototype efforts.
  • Compile and analyze operational, test, and research data for performance standards evaluation.
  • Plan, develop, conduct, and oversee experimental test programs.
  • Conduct meetings and prepare reports and presentations as needed.
  • Perform all job elements in accordance with established procedures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or related technical discipline from an accredited university.
  • 10+ years of experience in mechanical piping and water supply products design, with at least 5 years focused on flow control valves, components, accessories, and devices.
  • Experience with the product lifecycle process and interpreting technical standards.
  • Self-directed; able to strategize on test plans without established protocols; strong on-time and quality project delivery.
  • Under 10% travel may be required.
  • CAD software experience is a plus.
  • Experience in the fire safety domain is a plus.
Work Environment

This onsite role is in a state-of-the-art facility where all design, testing, and prototyping occur. You will have the opportunity to see your designs tested and built firsthand. The position is a temporary-to-hire role, with a duration of 6-9 months. Enjoy paid holidays in accordance with the company schedule and PTO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $65.00/hr.
