Job Description

This role involves the coordination of projects primarily focused on concrete aggregate products, which constitute 70 percent of the mines' output. Other products include coarse gravel for landscape decoration and fine-grained sands for golf course greens and athletic field construction. The Project Engineer will develop and oversee safety policies and plans, coordinating with supervisors and managers, and ensuring the execution of program policies. Additionally, the role includes assisting in accident investigation and reporting, conducting internal safety audits, inspecting facilities and equipment for MSHA regulatory compliance, and working with MSHA inspectors during inspections and audits at various plants.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate project activities and ensure timely delivery of products.
  • Develop and execute safety policies and plans in collaboration with supervisors and managers.
  • Oversee accident investigation and reporting processes.
  • Conduct internal safety audits and ensure MSHA regulatory compliance.
  • Assist with DOT compliance and maintain accurate records.
  • Manage administrative tasks including documentation, production, and plant gradation reports.
  • Handle phone calls and other communication-related duties.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience in project coordination and construction management.
  • Familiarity with RFI processes and construction documentation.
  • 3-5 years of experience in construction.
  • Understanding of construction processes and document control.
  • Proficiency in construction software and project management.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience in construction, skilled trades, maintenance, or related fields.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools used in construction or repair of structures such as houses, buildings, plants, highways, and roads.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret design plans and specifications.
  • Proficiency in technology, preferably construction-specific software.
  • A 2 or 4 year degree in construction management.

Work Environment

The role involves onsite visits approximately 20% of the time, with the majority of work based in the office located in Ashland, NE. The office environment is well-maintained and equipped with modern facilities. However, outdoor work may involve exposure to dusty, dirty, and windy conditions typical of gravel, sand, and rock mining sites. All mined and produced materials are non-polluting and recyclable.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $100000.00/hr.
