ASME Basic Welder-Capkold

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • May perform additional duties as assigned by the department supervisor.
  • Keep work area clean, neat and orderly.
  • Maintain inventory of parts used in area.
  • Follow all safety rules, policies and procedures
  • Train basic welders.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Must have held (and performed the function) of the Advanced Welder classification for at least one year.
  • Must pass MIG, TIG, and Stick ASME welding tests on 1" schedule 40 pipe in a 6G position.
  • Must pass the complete hands on tests in both sections a & b below:
  • Steel jacketed kettle area or hy-plus boiler area
  • Large kettle trunnion, leg, port, fixture area

Note: The performance in these areas will be evaluated by the Q.C. Dept. and supervision. The employee will be tested on the job they are least familiar with, as determined by management.

  • Must pass required ASME and PED welding test
  • Must be able to read blueprints and layout part to prints
  • Must have basic math skills
  • Must have good hand/eye coordination
  • Work involves stooping and bending

ABOUT YOU:

  • A high school diploma or GED is required

  • Rarely (0-12%):
  • Occasionally (12-33%):
  • Frequently (34-66%): Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling
  • Regularly (67-100%): Seeing/Hearing/Standing/Walking/Lifting/Pulling/Pushing/Fingering/Grasping/Feeling

ABOUT YOUR TASKS:

  • Must be able to perform all functions of the basic and advanced welder classification.
  • Must be capable and willing to move and work in any workstation, line, or product at
  • any time.

Note: Persons who have qualified for the ASME Welding classification may (hold the classification and pay) even though they may not be required to perform the ASME tasks on a daily basis. These persons: however, are required to maintain their certification and may be required to move on a moment's notice.

  • Work from verbal instructions / blueprints / drawings and/or work orders.
  • Setup equipment / prepare surfaces to be welded /weld parts.
  • Must be able to use hand tools such as grinders, etc.
  • Must report all accidents/injuries to department supervisor immediately.
  • Prompt and regular attendance.
