JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: MAINTENANCE TRADESMAN
SPECIALTY: CARPENTER
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
To perform skilled work that deals with maintenance and repair of buildings, structures, and fixtures including the following items: doors, door locks, door closures, cabinets, shelves, partitions, floors, windows, tile, and masonry. To respond to emergency duty assignments when required. To comply with all safety rules and regulations. To operate woodworking equipment and machinery.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferably hold a high school diploma or GED certificate.
Preferably hold a VA Contractor's License.
Hold a valid Virginia driver's license and be willing to obtain a CDL driver's license with air brake provisions.
Knowledge of common practices, tools, and terminology of trade.
Ability to estimate materials.
Ability to operate common woodworking equipment and machinery.
Ability to follow rough scketches and oral instructions.
Knowledge of safety rules and regulations in relation to trade.
Physically able to do the work.
Have demonstrated the professional and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, school personnel and members of the community
PHYSICAL EFFORT/ACTIVITIES:
Job requires rigging and working on scaffolds, setting and working on extension ladders, and lifting and carrying 70-100 lbs.
REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Maintenance
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Twelve-month contract. The salary will be determined by the Carroll County Public Schools 2025-2026 salary scale. Position to begin October 1, 2025.
EVALUATION:
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of classified personnel.
Position Type:Full-Time
Salary:$47,279 to $56,227 Per Year
