Position: Building Engineer
Location: Downtown Dallas, TX
Type: Contract
Compensation: $26.00 - $30.00/hour (DOE)
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Building Engineer for a contract opportunity in the Downtown Dallas area. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with building systems and equipment, and a proactive approach to preventative maintenance and problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
Perform routine maintenance and ensure continuous operation of all building systems including:
Mechanical: HVAC, plumbing, controls
Electrical: Lighting, UPS, PDU, generators, primary switchgear
Fire/Life Safety and Emergency Backup Systems
Hot Water Systems, boilers, pumps, chillers, and ventilating equipment
Monitor and adjust refrigeration, chilled water, and air conditioning systems; ensure optimal performance through regular inspections and adjustments.
Troubleshoot and repair issues by analyzing system operations and implementing corrective actions.
Install, repair, and maintain:
Plumbing, piping, and tubing systems
Single and three-phase motors, conduit, and wiring
Pumps, motors, air compressors, heat exchangers, bearings, seals, and filters
Electrical controls, switching, and motor controls
Maintain records, logs, and engineering data sheets related to equipment performance and maintenance.
Supervise and coordinate activities of external contractors working on-site.
Follow safety protocols for handling hazardous materials and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a commercial or industrial building maintenance setting
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems
- Ability to read equipment schematics and technical manuals
- Experience with critical systems such as UPS, generators, chillers, and controls
- Strong troubleshooting and mechanical repair skills
