Job Description
MISSION:
To accurately and consistently fabricate and weld titanium electrodes into titanium ingots for casting into parts.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Cutting
Objective: Identify, measure, align and cut released Alloy for Electrode fabrication.
Essential Job Functions:
Identify released metal by M L number, using the MLC database
Calculate the length of Alloy to efficiently utilize inventory, taking into consideration stub length and furnace capabilities.
Align Alloy bar in Bandsaw to ensure a smooth, straight cut
Monitor Bandsaw as it is cutting to ensure blade stays on track, and cut remains straight
Stub recycling
Cut off melted Alloy from end of Stub
Ensure stub is cut straight
Identify M L, length and alloy type on the stub per identification template
Welding
Objective: To adequately weld Alloy bar to Stub, creating a Titanium Electrode
Essential Job Functions:
Ensure welder is in proper operating condition
Verify that there is enough weld wire, that the weld wire is the correct type, and that the feeder is working correctly
Remove any alpha case inclusions, and debris from welding surface on bar and stub. This may include the use of wire brushes, grinders, air hammers and acetone.
Ensure that Alloy is released by M L number, using the MLC database
Fill out a manual Weld map, and enter into MLC database to create barcoded electrode tag
Use TIG welder to attach Alloy bar to stub.
Clean all weld lines using a wire brush
Mark all weld lines with Alloy M L number for identification
Verify total electrode weight and attach Bar code tag.
Record Keeping and Inventory
Objective: To maintain records of welds, Bandsaw cuts, electrode maps and metal inventory.
Essential Job Functions:
Maintains records of all welds.
Maintains records of usable metal.
Assures that all metal is identified by metal lot number.
Validate metal inventory as requested.
Positively identifies fabricated electrodes.
Maintain records of bandsaw cuts per blade.
Updated MLC database for inventory accuracy and electrode tracking
Safety
Objective: To maintain a safe working environment with an emphasis on safety consciousness in all aspects of the job.
Essential Job Functions:
Adheres to plant and department safety rules.
Safely operates all equipment and tools.
Identifies and reports safety problems.
Performs monthly STOP audits
Meets all production and quality standards.
OTHER ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Performs other tasks as directed.
ESSENTIAL EQUIPMENT VEHICLES, TOOLS AND OR MACHINERY USED:
Industrial band saw
Plasma and TIG welders
Forklift
Overhead crane hoist
Hydraulic conveyor
Basic hand tools (hammer, pry bar, screwdriver, etc.)
Razor blades
Air jack
Computer with access to the MLC database
TRAINING:
Training is provided on the job.
PCCs Fork Lift Driving Safety Certification Training must be completed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum one year welding experience
OR
An equivalent combination of classroom training and work experience.
Ability to read, interpret, and follow specifications on Tech Cards and Process Control Procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally.
Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations. (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
Physical ability to perform the essential job functions, which include but are not limited to lifted over 50lbs.
Basic computer skills
