Description:
Architectural Designer, full-time, with 5-15 years of experience, minimum. This role is primarily in-office, with a limited ability to work from home per company policy.
This position requires: a responsible individual who is passionate about design and the environment, a strong work ethic, and has a firm grasp on the technical aspects of commercial buildings, as well as a solid understanding of commercial construction practices.
You should have a strong design sensibility and appreciation for the design process, and an understanding that architectural design is a collaborative process that occurs within a team.
Previous experience working for an architecture firm that focuses on mid-to-large commercial/civic/healthcare work is preferred.
Responsibilities:
Typical responsibilities will include leading, supporting, and/or assisting in the development of design solutions, and oversight of design intent. You will assist, or lead, efforts to assess project, site, and program opportunities and constraints and formulate concepts that achieve project goals. Design process related tasks may include site analysis, program development and validation, space adjacencies, conceptual building layouts, and developing building concepts that address functionality, architectural expression, intended spatial experience, and materiality. You will prepare materials and drawings for schematic design, design development, contract documents, and marketing collateral, communicating concepts via architectural graphics, diagrams, spreadsheets, or written narratives.
Skills and Requirements:
Architecture program graduate from an accredited institution
Architectural licensure (preferred), or enrollment in AXP program with demonstrated progress in completing examinations
Passionate and knowledgeable about architecture and current design trends
Creative, problem-solving mindset, collaborative, proactive, curious, and professional
Strong graphic abilities, including ability to communicate design ideas via multiple means, including hand sketching and drawings
Strong design ability, including composition, balance, and aesthetics - as demonstrated by previous work and portfolio
An understanding of how a building is assembled and how building systems are integrated
An understanding of how a set of construction documents is organized
An understanding of how building codes and regulations impact design concepts
Software proficiency:
Fluency in Revit/BIM 360 (required), SketchUp, Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint)
Familiarity with Lumion, and AutoCAD
Adobe (Photoshop), InDesign and Illustrator preferred
Familiarity with parametric design software, such as Grasshopper; energy analysis tools, such as Sefaira; and modeling tools like Rhino, a plus
The following will be considered a plus:
Writing and research skills
Photography skills, including understanding of composition and lighting
Familiarity w 3d printing
Sustainability certifications
Model building skills
