Performs basic drafting, calculations and field work; learns basic design procedures and techniques. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details. Essential Duties: Assists in preparation of quantity summaries, hydraulic and utility studies and right of way maps. Assists in preparation of roadway design, traffic control, lighting, signal, equipment and building plans. Learns to use automated roadway programs, hydraulic design programs and or interactive graphics. Performs basic drafting and calculations in support of design activities; copies detailed plans and drawings. Performs construction inspections. Prepares filed notes. Serves on a survey crew. Works on reproduction of plans. Files and makes copies. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
