Position SummaryThe Manufacturing Supervisor will supervise hourly staff and temporary employees in the production area in accordance with the organization's policies, lean practices, and applicable laws. You will oversee production in assigned areas in accordance with published schedule. In addition, you will ensure quality of production meets or exceeds standards. The Manufacturing Supervisor will ensure all work is performed in a safe and compliant manner.
This is a 2nd shift position in Maplewood, MO. Working Hours for this role are Monday - Thursday 3:00pm - 1:30am.
What You'll do as a Manufacturing Supervisor- Ensure effective employee relations. Provide employee coaching and development. Resolve employee issues. Complete objective setting and performance reviews in a timely manner.
- Ensure the Environmental, Health and Safety framework is understood and followed by all employees. Ensure a Zero Incident work environment.
- Balance quality, productivity, cost, delivery, and employee morale to achieve desired results in all areas. Work to continuously improve all areas. Follow lean manufacturing methods (lean daily management, eliminate waste, make problems visible etc.)
- Responsible for selection and training of employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising employee performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems and disputes.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Ensure direct reports comply with all policies and procedures.
- Improve efficiency of assigned area using lean principles, effective leadership, and KPIs (key performance indicators).
- Ensure all area KPIs are met.
- Establish, document, and/or adjust work procedures to ensure production schedules, quality requirements, and safety goals are met.
- Recommend and help implement improvements to plant safety, production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
- Ensure training of direct reports on the proper mechanical adjustments to production line equipment.
- Contribute to the accomplishment of KPIs including safety, quality, production, cost and development.
- Work with the Quality department interpret specifications and job orders to production workers.
- Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals and improve overall work environment.
- Effectively communicate with all levels of the organization to ensure coordination of activities of each department.
- Maintain records as required by policy, practice, and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ensure all regulatory requirements are met (complete and accurate training records, MPS, SOPs, work instructions, DHR, signature records).
- Review production plan, moving labor to meet schedule attainment.
- Manage departmental performance metrics, including Tier 1 (cell measure boards) and Tier 2 (Value Stream boards).
- Manages productivity of hourly associates ensuring focus on start dates and due dates.
Required
- Bachelor's Degree
- Plus 2 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment. This experience can include internships or co-ops.
- High School Diploma/GED
- Plus 5 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Previous supervisory experience.
Preferred
- Technical experience in mechanical/machining environment.
- Experience and/or training in lean manufacturing.
- Experience with MRP or ERP software.
Other
- Working knowledge and understanding of manufacturing principles including, but not limited to:
- Labor utilization and staffing requirements
- Lean practices
- Equipment trouble shooting
- Ability to comprehend and follow SOPs (standard operating procedures), work instructions and blueprints.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to help in the writing of SOPs, work instructions, standard work, etc.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
- Ability to communicate effectively before groups of customers or employees.
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, standards.
- Ability to write and communicate with other team members.
- Ability to read, sort, check, count, and verify part numbers.

Pay range for this opportunity is $67,362.50 - $87,175.00. This position is eligible for bonus participation.
Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
