GMC has an opening for a Site Civil Project Engineer to support on-going site civil projects throughout the state in our Atlanta OR Cartersville, GA office. Applicants should have passed the FE exam with the intention of pursuing PE in the future. This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated engineer to work in a growing office. We are looking for someone who has excellent time management skills and is eager to develop a broad knowledge of engineering skills in a specific practice area. In this position, you will gain exposure to various projects while cultivating your engineering career.
Essential functions and responsibilities include:
- Evaluate, select and apply standards, techniques and procedures to perform a task or sequence of tasks for site civil engineering projects in residential subdivision design OR industrial design of differing complexity
- Knowledge of and ability to apply standard principles, practices, and regulations
- Perform moderate design tasks
- Prepare portions of project documents
- Edit specifications
- Perform research and investigations
- Ability to understand, interpret and apply national, state and local codes and standards
- Assist in determining schedule and work requirements
- Receive instruction on specific objectives and execute project work
- Possess effective oral and written communication skills; Communication is key!
- Demonstrate initiative, adaptability, dependability, and commendable personal conduct
- Participate with a team of design professionals to improve our design capabilities
- Work with project managers to solve community planning, development and civil challenges
Minimum Qualifications:
- Site civil engineer with 3-5 years of experience with industrial, residential or commercial site development experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET Program
- PE or EI with intention of pursuing professional engineering licensure
- Self-motivated person looking for career development and advancement
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Capable of working in a fast-paced, multi-disciplined environment
- Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Civil3D proficiency
- Cartersville and Atlanta offices
Travel requirements:
- FIELD (20%) AND OFFICE (80%)
- This position requires work to be performed in an office environment and in the field. Work done in the field may consist of exposure to various types of weather and temperatures. Engineers may also be exposed to pollutants, chemicals, insects, and possibly water-borne pathogens. Employees are required to wear appropriate protective clothing and gear when performing fieldwork.
