Your Key Responsibilities
Schaeffler is seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager of Purchasing to lead the purchasing team at our Wooster, Ohio Plant. This role is pivotal in ensuring efficient procurement processes, strengthening supplier relationships, and achieving cost-saving objectives. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a keen understanding of the automotive industry, and the ability to drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the execution of established purchasing strategies, policies, and procedures, ensuring compliance and adherence to Plant Purchasing and Supplier Quality methods for the assigned area.
- Own and manage plant-level purchasing metrics, focusing on value-addition (cost savings), supply chain risk mitigation, quality, and delivery; maintain and update performance metrics across all purchasing activities.
- Develop and strengthen the supplier base and purchasing partnerships for the assigned area, focusing on Quality, Cost, & Delivery (QCD) improvement. Oversee new supplier onboarding, maintain relationships, and participate in make vs. buy, consignment programs, and subcontracting decisions.
- Plan, prioritize resources, and initiate improvement actions to support both internal and external customers, while optimizing budgets and processes in the assigned area.
- Demonstrate ability to prioritize, make quick decisions, and take ownership of issues until resolved.
- Lead the plant purchasing team of 5 employees and execute supplier-management functions and incoming inspection for the Wooster, Ohio Plant.
- Minimal travel required for this position.
Your Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Technical Field, or Supply Chain.
- Demonstrated experience in a Purchasing Leadership position within a plant environment.
- Self-motivated, driven, and assertive, with a strong focus on continuous improvement and impactful results.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Technical knowledge of the automotive industry and strong business acumen.
- Proven experience in purchasing, negotiation, supplier management, and/or development.
- Proficiency in SAP Purchasing/Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to train, mentor, and develop subordinates to grow within the organization.
- External applicants must be authorized to work in the US without employment VISA or other sponsorship
