Senior Transportation/Traffic Engineer

Join our dynamic Transportation team in Virginia and play a key role in redefining how people and goods move. As a Senior Transportation/Traffic Engineer, youll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of roadway designers, traffic engineers, planners, and operations experts to deliver innovative, multimodal solutions that improve safety, efficiency, and sustainability. The final candidate could be located in Reston, Richmond or Virginia Beach, Virginia.

What Youll Do:

Lead traffic engineering and transportation planning projects focused on intersections, freeways, and arterial corridors.

Conduct traffic operations and safety studies using tools like Synchro, VISSIM, and HCM/HSM methodologies.

Prepare and present high-quality technical reports to clients in both virtual and in-person settings.

Apply a multimodal lens to every projectaccounting for pedestrians, cyclists, transit users, and drivers across diverse environments.

Masters degree in civil engineering or a related field.

Professional Engineer (PE) license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Significant experience in traffic engineering and analysis.

Hands-on experience with Synchro, VISSIM, HCS, Sidra, or similar tools.

Proven ability to lead on-call tasks and collaborate with VDOT and other clients.

Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Ideally, you'll also have:

8-12 years of relevant experience in traffic engineering and analysis

PTOE certification
