Position Overview:
The Project Engineer will support all aspects of project planning and execution, collaborating and coordinating across all functional disciplines. This role defines work plans, resource needs, timeline and budget for capital projects. The Project Engineer supports the project value proposition and scope and manages resources to complete projects safely, on time and within budget.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to define project requirements and objectives.
- Coordinate with Project Team and EPC contractors to ensure project milestones are met.
- Support projects with the potential of driving significant change, ensuring smooth implementation and identifying/addressing risks and execution improvements.
- Maintain positive working relationships with diverse groups of operational stakeholders, collaborating with safety, environmental, construction, project controls, contracts and procurement and others to address project and change related issues and challenges.
- Ensure alignment between project outcomes and sponsor requirements and resolve issues with considerable latitude.
- Provide technical support during project execution and resolve engineering issues as they arise
- Define and recommend steps for process improvement and more effective project/program management.
- Prepare technical reports, project documentation, and progress updates.
- Review engineering deliverables and initiate appropriate corrective actions.
Experience and Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline
- 3+ years of experience managing capital projects in a petrochemical, refining or heavy industrial manufacturing environment
- Capital Projects experience working in a phased project process
- Outstanding written and oral communication and critical thinking skills
- Experience with engineering disciplines and project functions
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Master's degree in an Engineering discipline or Business Administration
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
Physical Requirements:
- Physical ability to work around and on industrial equipment, including frequent climbing of stairs and ladders
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas (respirator, hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, heeled boots and hearing protection)
