ABOUT THIS POSITION

The Parks and Recreation Department provides residents and visitors with more than 41,000 acres of desert parks and mountain preserve land with more than 200 miles of trails; 188 parks; 33 community and recreation centers; eight golf courses; 29 pools; and classes, programs, and sports leagues. The Parks and Recreation Department also develops and maintains new parks, park amenities and facilities with funding from a variety of sources.

The Parks and Recreation Department is recruiting for Project Managers that will be responsible for managing, organizing, coordinating, and monitoring the functions of Parks and Recreation Department capital and maintenance projects. The Project Manager will be responsible to direct all activities and personnel involved in the implementation and completion of projects and contracts including but not limited to design, scheduling, construction, budget, and construction compliance. Additional responsibilities will include performing site visits and field inspections of projects, reviewing designs, drawings, payment requests, and project schedules meeting with community representatives to review proposed projects.

This position will report to the Parks and Recreation Parks Development Deputy Director.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Ability to compile financial analysis, conduct research, summarize surveys.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365.
  • Strong decision-making skills and effective at problem solving and negotiating resolutions.
  • Using research methods, data and statistical analysis, and benchmarking to develop business decisions.
  • Knowledge of engineering.

SALARY

Pay Range: $69,492.80 - $131,040.00 annually.

Hiring Range: $69,492.80 - $97,780.80. annually.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Four years of responsible experience in urban development, redevelopment, business assistance, capital improvement, design and/or construction projects at a level which required supervision or participation in the planning and programming processes.
  • Bachelor's degree in public or business administration, urban planning, architecture, engineering, construction management, economics, or a related field.
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
  • All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position.
  • This position requires the use of personal or city vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:

  • Experience managing capital improvement projects.
  • Experience in managing capital improvement project budgets.
  • Experience in construction project management and/or facility management.
  • Experience supervising staff.
  • Experience in budget development and management.
  • Experience in Microsoft Suite.
