An Assistant Water Systems Superintendent position is available with the City of Fort Worth Water Department, Plant Operations Division. This role supports the Water Systems Superintendent, by managing the daily operations at one of five Water Treatment Plants. This position provides technical and complex administrative support ensuring that modern, safe, effective, and efficient practices are utilized by personnel, as well as establishes accountability measures consistent with Department and Citywide goals and initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree with major coursework in civil engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, biology or a related field
- Five (5) years' of increasingly responsible experience in water treatment operations and maintenance, including two (2) years' of lead or supervisory responsibility
- Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least seven years of increasingly responsible experience in water/wastewater collections, treatment operations and maintenance, including three years of supervisory responsibility
- TDLR issued Journeyman Electrical license
The Assistant Water Systems Superintendent job responsibilities include:
- Assists in managing assigned services and activities of one or more Wastewater Treatment plants, five Water Treatment plants and the Distribution System.
- Monitor and evaluate the quality, responsiveness, efficiency and effectiveness of assigned wastewater\water programs, service delivery methods and procedures; analyzes plant electrical distribution and plant control processes, and works with employees on the continuous improvement of services.
- Assure the reliability of the electrical distribution systems of all plant facilities.
- Record and maintain detailed information on the electrical systems and the process control operation of the wastewater\water plants and compare the results with goals.
- Participates in the development and administration of the division's annual budget.

Light Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work.
