Description

Starting salary range: $70,000 - 95,000 depending on experience.

PTO upon hire, Medical, Dental, and Vision Benefits are offered immediately upon employment, 401(k) after 6 months.

Overview: As a Mechanical Engineer I with Merrill: A Keel Company, you will be responsible for designing, detailing, and checking systems for special equipment used for assembly, testing, and material removal in a job shop manufacturing environment. On the job training is provided as needed.

Job Functions:

  • Installation support and start up on-site both internally and at customer facilities.
  • Field service and debugging as required.
  • Manufacturing and assembly support.
  • Researching, planning, and designing of mechanical and electromechanical products and systems.
  • Directing and coordinating activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of mechanical or electromechanical products and systems.
  • Troubleshooting mechanical designs, assemblies, and component problems and implementing corrective measures.

Physical Demands: Extended periods of sitting and repetitive motions with computer use. Occasional light lifting up to 40 lbs.

Work Environment: Typical office environment, with frequent time spent on the manufacturing floor with exposure to debris, fumes, moving machinery, and other hazards can be expected. As this is frequently a hands-on position with the integration project team, similar physical precautions are required, including use of PPE such as hardhats, safety glasses, and safety toed shoes where required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience in the field or machines and automation preferred.
  • Must possess a basic understanding of control and fluid power systems.
  • Must be able to perform structural calculations.
  • Needs to have rudimentary or better knowledge of manufacturing processes and good knowledge of appropriate references to find answers and solutions.
  • Must be comfortable and proficient with standard computer software such as Microsoft Suite, as well as the ability to become proficient in proprietary software.
  • Approximately two years of industry experience and working knowledge of solid modeling software. Candidates with experience working with machines, selecting components, and analyzing form, fit, and function are best fit.
  • Ideal candidates can work well with both teams and independently, will have problem-solving skills, be organized, and have good written and verbal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, prioritization, and multi-tasking is required.
