Job Description
As a Tradesman, you'll be following plans to make sure everything meets the requirements. Your job will involve inspecting, repairing, installing, modifying, rebuilding, constructing, and maintaining structures that you're assigned to. To be a Tradesman, you'll need a high school diploma or equivalent. You may also need to complete an apprenticeship or formal training. Typically, you'll report to a supervisor or manager. Once you've gained full proficiency in your area of expertise, you'll work with moderate supervision. You should have 1-3 years of related experience to work as a Tradesman.
Responsibilities
- Take apart or put together scaffolding, bracing, and other temporary structures
- Dig trenches and fill in holes
- Operate equipment and heavy machinery
- Follow instructions from construction project managers and supervisors
- Load and unload building materials
- Get rid of hazardous materials and debris from the work site
- Help trade workers like carpenters or electricians
- Control the work site by setting up barriers, signs, or directing traffic
Requirements
- Stay alcohol and drug-free while on the job
- Have high standards of integrity and professionalism
- Experience with equipment like boom lifts, scissor lifts, and fork lifts
- 1 to 3 years of experience working as a Journeyman in construction
- Follow the rules set by the Foreman, Project Manager, or other supervisors
- Load and unload building materials
- Get rid of waste and hazardous materials from the job site
- Help trade workers, such as carpenters
- Pass drug and background checks
- Have a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle for work
- Have the necessary tools and a belt to keep them handy
- Be able to switch job sites and work with different clients
- Provide 2-3 references from you most recent jobs
