HVAC Engineer or Senior HVAC Engineer — Building Systems Design & Consulting
Location: San Jose, CA (On-Site Only)
Industry: Building Systems Engineering
Employment Type: Full-time
Design smarter systems in a collaborative, cross-disciplinary environment.
A full-service engineering firm is hiring mid- and senior-level HVAC Engineers to lead design and consulting work across a wide range of building types. With in-house disciplines spanning Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Process Piping, Fire Protection, and Commissioning, this is an ideal environment for engineers who want to contribute to fully integrated projects — not work in silos.
These are fully on-site roles based in San Jose, with increasing levels of ownership and impact depending on experience. Whether you’re looking to take the next step in leading projects or ready to mentor teams and drive cross-functional coordination, there’s room to grow here — and real support behind it.
What you’ll do:
Design and develop HVAC systems, including equipment selection, layout, energy analysis, and load calculations
Produce construction documents and technical specifications
Coordinate closely with electrical, plumbing, and other teams for smooth project integration
Lead or support HVAC project scopes from concept through delivery, ensuring schedule, budget, and quality alignment
Mentor junior engineers and deliver internal knowledge-sharing sessions (“lunch-and-learns”)
Participate in project meetings, client conversations, and (for more senior engineers) business development and cross-functional leadership efforts
Stay current on relevant codes, industry trends, and licensing standards
What you bring:
5–10+ years of HVAC engineering experience within a consulting environment
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
PE license strongly preferred (required for senior-level role)
Experience leading small-to-medium project teams; senior candidates should have a track record of managing large, cross-disciplinary scopes
Familiarity with energy modeling, building codes, and integrated design practices
Strong communication skills and a collaborative, solutions-driven mindset
NCEES profile recommended for licensure tracking and multi-state coordination
Why this role:
Join a company where collaboration is real, not just a buzzword — people support each other and share knowledge across disciplines
Work on a diverse mix of projects instead of getting stuck in one sector
Take on real leadership opportunities in a structure that rewards initiative
Be part of a growing, hands-on team where your work is seen and your input matters
Important:
This is a fully on-site role based in San Jose. Remote or hybrid arrangements are not available.
