Position Summary : The Field Commissioning Engineer will lead our commissioning team and information from start to finish for large high-tech projects. The Field Commissioning Engineer will lead onsite quality control efforts by assisting subcontractors and vendors with startup preparation, including reviewing startup schedules and any impact that other subcontractors may have during startup. The Field Commissioning Engineer will collaborate with design professionals, clients, subcontractors, and craftspeople to address complex commissioning coordination issues. This position is on the front line in avoiding and solving technical problems that arise. This role will be fully on site near Amarillo, TX.
Essential Responsibilities :
- Assist project management team in keeping subcontractor's startup dates on schedule.
- Demonstrate thorough understanding of all systems requirements to perform startups. including what predecessors must be done prior to startups and what successors are ready to facilitate startup and allow for the performance operation of a particular system(s).
- Implement and manage the project QA/QC Program, review and approve subcontractor QA/QC Programs to ensure alignment.
- Schedule and coordinate QC Specialists.
- Perform onsite inspections including underground utilities.
- Conduct QA/QC Meetings.
- Ensure all subcontractors are following their approved QA/QC Plans.
- Perform onsite inspections of delivered Owner Furnished Equipment.
- Participate in scheduling meetings to ensure startups are on schedule and assist the Construction Managers in reworking schedule to an achievable startup date.
- Ensure systems are ready to operate in a safe manner, ensure all safety precautions are in place prior to any system being operated.
- Have sufficient skills and knowledge to understand that the subcontractor or vendor has performed all aspects of the startup.
- Coordinate work with Mechanical, Electrical and Electrical Low Voltage Project Managers and their associated team members.
- Interpretation of construction documents, controls sequences and technical manuals.
- Run startup meetings involving Area Construction Managers, Design Team members, multiple subcontractors, local utility agencies and owners to coordinate/ drive MEP system start up activities.
- Interface between Area Construction Managers and multiple subcontractors to assist in coordinating mechanical/electrical startups.
- Verify all documentation is complete and equipment being prepared for startup is construction complete and can be safely started.
- Organize and facilitate training of Owner's personnel in the operations and maintenance of all systems.
- Review and process project submittal information and coordinate between multiple submittals to ensure the accuracy and functionality of each component of the various systems.
- Receiving and distributing requests for information (RFI) and change documents issued by other offices.
- Organization, ensure completion and filing of record documents.
- Information storage and retrieval using a computer and other handheld electronic hardware.
- Technical advisor at onsite field construction office.
- Must be able to access all areas and levels of construction site for work progress review.
- Work schedule must be flexible to allow extended hours or off-shift work to accommodate changing construction schedule and sequences.
- Writing and publishing meeting minutes, schedule graphs and activity checklists.
- Provide clear communication verbally, written and electronically.

Professional Experience and Education
- Demonstrate thorough understanding of all aspects of Commissioning.
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent degree or equivalent work experience in the field
- Education background in materials and methods of construction
- A minimum of 5 years of project commissioning management experience.
- Extensive experience in industrial and/or hi-tech semiconductor types of projects is required.
- Must be familiar with medium and low voltage distribution, large generators, UPS equipment, and electrical installations on large mechanical and process equipment
- Experience in organizing technical data in a neat and accurate method; familiar with CSI specification system for construction
- Ability to work closely with trade and craft people in a field work situation. Patience and professionalism are essential to being able to maintain a cooperative attitude through pressure situations
- Skills in handling several work activities at once while frequently interrupted by phone calls and urgent questions on work in progress
- Training in design and construction document reading, design specifications, survey theory and techniques
- Highly developed visual observation and interpretation skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; must be able to work closely with project owners, architects, engineers, equipment manufacturers, vendors, and subcontractors
- Must be a dedicated team player, self-starter, flexible and be able to work well with a variety of personalities and minimal instruction. Must be able to remain calm in high-pressure situations.

- Proficient in Windows, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook) and Bluebeam
- Experience with project management software such as Prolog, Procore, E-Builder, Microsoft Project, and Primavera Project Planner(P6)
- Experience with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit and Navisworks
