Sr. Electrical Engineer

  • Regent
  • North Kingstown, Rhode Island
  • Full Time

At REGENT, we're on a mission to revolutionize regional transportation between coastal cities. We're not just building vehicles, we're creating a new category of transportation: the seaglider. These groundbreaking wing-in-ground-effect craft travel just above the water's surface, combining the speed of an airplane with the low operating costs of a boat. Capable of 180 miles at 180 mph on today's battery tech (and up to 400 miles with next-gen batteries), seagliders will unlock fast, affordable, and sustainable coastal transit for passengers and cargo - connecting cities, islands, and communities like never before.

Backed by leading investors and powered by a team of passionate, forward-thinking engineers, builders, and operators, we're now scaling from a breakthrough prototype to full production - and building the team to make it happen.

Role Overview

As a Senior Electrical Engineer at REGENT, you'll play a key role in designing the electrical and avionics systems that power our next-generation seagliders. You'll develop schematics, define harness architectures, specify components, and guide the integration of flight-critical systems across everything from sensors and displays to power distribution and actuation. Your work will directly support the accelerated design and build schedule for our full-scale Viceroy vehicle.

You'll collaborate closely with mechanical, propulsion, software, and integration teams to bring clean, certifiable electrical systems from concept to test-ready reality. From connector pinouts to interface control documents, you'll be hands-on and deeply involved in the details, driving toward a buildable, scalable electrical platform that meets the demands of maritime and aerospace environments.

If you're an engineer who thrives in a dynamic, hands-on environment and wants to help define how our vehicles are powered, controlled, and connected, we'd love to meet you.

. Architect Flight-Ready Electrical Systems: Design and document schematics, harnesses, and interface control documents (ICDs) for critical avionics and low-voltage systems.Own Subsystem Design: Take full ownership of individual electrical subsystems, such as air data, actuation, displays, lighting, or HMI, from early design through test and integration.Collaborate Across Disciplines: Work with mechanical, propulsion, structural, and software teams to ensure clean electrical interfaces and compatible integration strategies.Specify and Source Components: Select MIL-spec connectors, wire types, sensors, embedded computers, and other components aligned with performance and environmental requirements.Design for Integration: Incorporate grounding, shielding, EMI/EMC best practices, and signal integrity considerations into every design decision.Support Builds and Troubleshooting: Work closely with integration engineers and technicians to resolve issues during harness fabrication, subsystem bring-up, and vehicle-level testing.Coordinate with Vendors: Define specifications for custom harnesses and electrical subassemblies, review builds, and manage inspection criteria with external partners.Drive Design Quality: Review and improve internal standards for harness documentation, configuration management, and design-for-manufacture practices..
