Equipment Operator

At this time, Martin Marietta, a leading supplier of aggregates and heavy building material, is hiring two dependable, motivated individuals to join our crew at the Earlham Quarry, located west of Des Moines just outside Earlham, Iowa. One position will focus on operating a water truck, where having a CDL is a plus-or you must be willing to obtain one. The second position will operate a haul truck-no CDL required. Both roles offer hands-on training and the opportunity to cross-train on additional heavy mining equipment, while also supporting general plant operations. Ideal Candidate Will:

• Be able to operate, or willing to learn to operate, a variety of mobile mining equipment including haul trucks, motor graders, water trucks, loaders, and more
• Work as part of a team to assist in plant repairs and clean-up as needed
• Conduct thorough pre-shift equipment inspections and promptly report any repair needs
• Perform preventative maintenance and routine servicing of mobile equipment
• Take pride in maintaining clean, well-kept equipment
• Adhere to all MSHA regulations and Martin Marietta safety policies
• Complete tasks independently with minimal supervision

Minimum Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Experience is a plus - but we will train the right candidate
• Bilingual is a plus
• CDL preferred, or must be willing to obtain (at company expense)

Working Conditions:

• Larger equipment is typically air conditioned
• Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions - heat, cold, wet, or dry
• Potential exposure to dust, sand, gravel, diesel exhaust, etc.

Some travel to our nearby Winterset location may be required as needed-drive time and mileage will be paid.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Mechanical aptitude
• Basic troubleshooting
• Familiarity with OSHA and MSHA regulations
• Strong time management skills

Position Type / Expected Hours:

• Full-time, weekday position
