Description
At the Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS), our employees are our greatest asset. The Division of Facilities Management, Leasing & Design Services Branch is dedicated to supporting the Cabinet's mission by ensuring that all leased buildings across Kentucky are safe, efficient, and well-maintained. We manage buildings and their maintenance so the agencies we serve have the best facilities possible to support their important work.
As a Construction Superintendent II, within this branch you will have the opportunity to travel through the commonwealth and meet, interact with the majority of staff from each agency and department within our cabinet. Every day is a new task; no two days are exactly the same. This position requires knowledge of and how to utilize many tools, including power tools.
The ideal applicant should work well in a fluid and fast-paced environment. Be attentive to the needs of other staff and customers. Provides clear expectations and understands the importance of delegation and accountability.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage more than one project with flexibility in changing work assignments.
- Ensure that maintenance requests are being addressed and provide periodic updates to the division.
- Check building plans and office layout.
- Refers to policies and procedures as needed.
- Handle paperwork, schedule office walk-throughs, and other tasks as assigned.
- Lift and move heavy items when necessary (up to 100 lbs.).
The ideal candidate will have:
- Ability to be an independent worker
- Ability to handle multiple projects and adapt to changing work
- Works well under Pressure and meet deadlines
- Comfortable using Power Tools
- Strong Communication and teamwork skills
- Basic organization skills
- Ability to lift 100lbs.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Six years of experience as construction estimator, general contractor, architect, engineer, construction superintendent, in construction trades or in supervising one or more trades crews in major construction, or major renovation or major maintenance repair projects.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional experience as listed above will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis.

Working Conditions
Incumbents working in this job title will be exposed to noise, dirt, temperature variances and other conditions inherent to construction sites.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
